Gary has been working on his parents' family histories for quite sometime. Last Christmas, he presented an amazing book to his dad of his side of the family. His mother's side, unfortunately, a lot of the details and information has yet to be discovered. This year, as a start, an 8 minute video was created, showcasing her side of the family.

Gary's Christmas Gift - Meet Marcus!

Yesterday, Gary's Christmas gift was purchased! Marcus is an 8 and a half week old Italian Greyhound. He is white with a couple of tiny black spots on his ears. He is extremely playful and loves to bounce around the apartment. Nikki is not so sure of him, but Kody loves to play with him.

Star Wars Convention - Days 1 & 3

Gary and I went to the Star Wars Celebration 5 Convention today at the Orange County Convention Centre. It was insane and runs until Sunday the 15th. Here is an extremely small example of the photos we took. The first one is the autograph Carrie Fisher signed to us. Later is a picture of Gary, Carrie Fisher and I and then Mark Hamill with Gary and I. The others are people in costumes and different exhibits to see and partake in.

Gary is hiding behind the fence that persons of interest hid behind on that day. What a eery way to spend our second anniversary - but its a piece of history we both are interested in!

We went to Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas and saw a trick riding show and steer run. We also ate bbq. We had to take photos with all the Willie Nelson stuff (neither of us like Willie Nelson's music) and Gary had to take a photo of the hot cowboy and this was the only horse I was going to get on! It was a "Texas" day!

Macy's Day Parade - Universal Studios, Florida

Gary and I were walking around the Universal Studios lot today when two guys in white and blue jumpsuits came up to us. They asked us if we would like to be a part of the parade. We looked at each other with a blank face, me drinking what was left of my Starbucks hot chocolate and Gary with his Iced Venti Non-Fat Latte with 3 Splenda packets and an extra shot, and said okay. We had no idea what we were in for, but it turned out to be balloon handlers for the Macy's Day Parade at Universal. That's right, the real balloons were transported down to Florida after flying in New York, for Universal Studios 25 days of Macy's Day Parade - Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida running from December 6th until January 1st.

Gary and I had to meet the team og 18 others at 3:15 and we weren't done until after 6:15. We had to get into our jumpsuits and most importantly learn from the actual people who handle the balloons during the world famous parade. Our balloon was Artie the Pirate, who happens to be the largest of the floats that can be at Universal. He is so big infact, that this year, Macy's had to tone down the size of the balloon because he didn't fit through the door. (Gary and I witnessed this first hand because we had an extremely difficult time getting him back into the hanger!) Only 60 guests a day get to participate in this amazing event. Gary and I almost said no, and now we are glad that we did it, it was so much fun and I believe every year now, I will watching the parade with new respect for those balloon handlers!

The new year has been very hectic for Gary and I. We are both working 40 hours a week and taking two classes. I developed a very severe headache that took over 3 weeks to disappear. I had to go to the ER and then went to a neurologist. I am on some medication that is used for people with depression, however, a lower dose is used for people with migraines. I finally have some days without the headache. I am hoping that it takes care of it...one of the things the neurologist said was I cannot not have caffeine anymore. Coke and coffee are two of my favorite things...not anymore :(

I will draft up a quick post later this week or tonight to talk about the amazing Michael Bublé concert that Gary and I went to on Saturday, February 23rd, at the UCF Arena.

Wedding Bliss, Sick Puppy and Airtravel Hell - what a weekend! Part 3

(Kelly was sick (at first I thought she was hung over, but later learned it was something else) and she and my Mum came to the room to say goodbye. Bri came back up from breakfast and we got our stuff together and left the room.)

Bri and I hobbled, well Bri did anyway, through the hotel. He was tired and sore from photographing all day. We made our way outside and again saw my family piled into my father's car. We said good-bye again and got on our way to the airport. Brian and I were flying United back to Florida and unfortunately had a layover in Washington DC. We boarded the plane, and then sat at the gate until about the time we were to be landing in DC. We finally took off and Bri and I stared at his watch in dismay. The flight landed and United did not bother to radio ahead to the other flight for Orlando, which had 9 other passengers from our flight, to attempt to hold it since we were on the ground a few minutes before departure time for the flight.

We got to the Orlando flight just as the door was shut. We were told it was too late and that nothing could be done for us, we would have to see a customer service representative. We got in a fairly long line and Bri proceeded to call United while we waited in the line. Bri was able to get us on a flight through Airtran to Orlando. We got out of line, went over to the other side of the airport to the terminal housing Airtran (Washington Reagan airport is HUGE by the way). When we get there, Airtran notifies us that it will be 500 to change the flight...we disagree and then Bri gets back on the phone to work everything out. We walk around the airport and Bri has to cancel the Airtran flight. We head back over to the United terminal and find a mexican restaurant and decide it was time to eat and have a margarita.

We learn that the only thing we can do now is to go to the main United check-in ticket counter and attempt to get on a flight. While we were in line previously the only other flight to Orlando was at 7pm. We had figured that by now, we would not be on that flight. We go out to the main check-in (ya other side of security) and proceed to wait for a representative. We were at the point of wanting to just spend the night and attempt to rest and get a good night sleep. We were told that United would not put us up until we have attempted to get on every flight to Orlando that day. We knew of the 7pm and was then informed of a 9:45pm flight as well. Yippie for us...

So we decide since were stuck anyway...lets attempt to get on the 7pm flight. We go back through security and ride the giant tramming thing to the gates. We get to the gate ticket counter. We are put on the standby list and told it is a good possibility we will make the flight. Bri and I look at each other and don't say anything - we didn't have to...the thoughts were the same.

Boarding came and went and last minute - we were called....yippie. We boarded the plane and sat in our seats and made our way back to Orlando. We were only about 9 hours later than originally scheduled...but that didn't make us any less tired.

Kody's health had started to improve while at the vet. To sum up the hell, his food was too rich for his body to digest and it was really hurting him. Of course several tests and vet visits were made before discovering this fact over the two weeks after I got home. Well, the doctors believed it to be the food, but wanted to narrow it down...so I had to take him to AVS (the same place that did his back surgery). The best thing is that Kody is healthy and happy again and he is on a really bland and nutritious food. He eats lots of it and I couldn't be happier with his recovery.

So all ended and is going well...for now...yippie!

School, Work, Life and Hail

Been a while and I don't have the energy at the moment to discuss the final moments of the Boston trip, which was 2 months ago. I am still waiting to apply for the full time position here at UCF's Digital Media. I have no idea why I want to the the advisor, well except for the benefits of fully funded classes and health care.

Class is going well, except that I found I really don't do the required reading. I did when I had to make postings about it, but now its a waste. I do the assignments and move on. My motivation for class has dwindled. I hope it gets rejuvenated soon!

My life is decent as it is. Gary and I are doing very well, though last night I messed up and forgot to call back. I was drousy any out of it most of the late afternoon and when Brian got home my mind was somewhere else. I apologized but I think he was still disappointed with me, which he was right to be.

Ooh...this weekend the Disney area had a massive powerstorm with lots of rain, wind and hail. The hail damaged my car some, I didn't think it was too bad...however Geico said the hood needs to be replaced. I have been in a rental car/boat all week. The car is a Mazda M5 and is much larger than my PT. So now, I am waiting for my car to be done. I was told it would be ready by Friday...here's hoping! Well I will write more later...need to complete homework and do some work. Part 3 of the travel hell will be written this weekend!

Wedding Bliss, Sick Puppy and Airtravel Hell - what a weekend! Part 2

(Erin and Ken had agreed to meet and do photos early so they could enjoy the reception and get some great city scenes)

Of course the guys are downstairs waiting for the limo when we met some additional weddings guests and briefly spoke them. At this point, we were downstairs and outside for about 30 minutes before the girls came downstairs and the limo pulled up. The girls got a phone call about the location of the limo and the guys, we were left to our own. The group jumped in to the limo (part 1 has the photo of us before climbing in) and we were on our way to the park. Well, we thought we were...we had to go back to the library to pick up the other 3. When Erin, Ken and Bri got in we all crammed to make sure there was enough room so that Erin's dress would be okay - she pulled it up a little and said said she didn't think a little more dirt would hurt it. They had been walking around the city and it had some dirt, but our Mum had chalk and would be able to cover it up. In fact after we had completed the photos and were back at the hotel, the next time I saw Erin and the dress I couldn't even tell that the dirt was covered-up.

Showtime!

It was time to let the guests in and get the wedding going. I knew we had a large family and that we would have to have spill-over to the groom's side, but I wanted to make sure that certain family members were closer to my parents, and it all seemed to work out. The guys brought down the relatives, and I took my Mum, gave her a kiss and lined up besides the groom and other groomsmen. The bridesmaids walked down the isle and looked as beautiful as they did for the pictures. Kelly was the last to walk down the isle and from where I was standing I could see Daddy and Erin get into position. They were laughing and smiling and it seemed like my Dad was trying to distract her...which as she walked down the isle, she started to break. She stopped midway and a huge sob was heard, that did it...I saw my Mum and sister, Kelly start to tear up...I fought them back myself...not that I would admit that to anyone!

Erin and Ken get married! The service was really nice and quick...maybe 30 minutes. The service was non religious but did open nicely with the Lord's Prayer and then went through the candle lighting and wine drinking! After the service, the guests were let to eat and drink at the cocktail hour while Brian ordered the families around to get the group photos. Many shots were taken of the families and after Bri snuck into the ballroom and grabbed photos of tables and flowers and the cake before the masses were unleashed. We did the walk in announcements and first dance - after about a minute of the bridal couple dancing alone, the wedding party and parents were asked to join in. The band were fantastic, they had the place going all night long, with people dancing in and out of courses of the dinner - which was amazing. The appetizers were so good, that we knew that the meal would be a hit. The first course were these amazing mushroom filled raviolis with a lemon cream sauce. The second course was a delicious beefsteak tomato salad with a vinaigrette dressing (loving tomatoes this was perfect for me and Bri!) The third course was something new to many people and was a hit, a small simple scoop of lemon sorbet to help wash the palette. The final course before all the amazing desserts was the filet or chicken. Both dishes came with the same vegetables and horseradish mashed potatoes. I had ordered the filet, and it was so good. There were plenty of soft drinks, wine and liquor beverages to be had as well. I prefer red wine and stuck to that for the most part, with the addition of champagne and a sour apple martini with Kelly and a few of the bridesmaids. The night went by quickly and I was able to keep my mind off of Kody and just focus on having a good time, knowing that Kody was in good hands and that I would soon be talking to the doctor and seeing him. When the reception ended, a few of us went downstairs to the pub and had a round or 2, they closed at 12:30 and we were able to get them to stay open until 1, most of us were already drunk or very buzzed from earlier in the evening. Kel and I hung out with Erin's friends until about 2 when I went up for bed, Bri didn't join us because he was exhausted and sore. I went to bed and woke up to my phone ringing...I had turned off the alarm and the previous wake up call, and fell back to sleep. It was 9:30 and breakfast time...it was the day after brunch...plus we had a flight to catch! I had a headache...quickly took some aleve and threw on a t-shirt and jeans, woke Bri up and ran down to be social. I made it in time to say goodbye to a few people and ate. I then went back to the room to get ready to go. Kelly was sick (at first I thought she was hung over, but later learned it was something else) and she and my Mum came to the room to say goodbye. Bri came back up from breakfast and we got our stuff together and left the room. This is where you have to wait for part 3.

Well April showers always bring May flowers...but the showers also bring along many other things as well...such as massive stress and headaches!

My younger sister decided it was time to get married, and she and her fiance felt April was a good time of year to get married in the city of Boston. My family grew up about 45 minutes south of the city, it was a good location for the ceremony. The big thing was, the time of year. I've heard originally they wanted to be married on St. Patty's Day - that would have been a mistake this year since there was a blizzard this year on March 17th. April and March are known in New England to be a rough time of year, I remember in high school having many postponed tennis matches due to the new fallen snow heaps - yea blizzards are not light fresh fluffy snow!

Anyway - Erin and Ken decided on April 21st and the week leading up to the wedding was cold, snowy, rainy and overall bad weather. Brian and I were scheduled to fly up on Wednesday the 18th and land at 9pm in Boston. Boston was cold and rainy and our flight was slightly delayed getting in the city. My Dad picked us up and drove us back to the house. The family stayed up for a little bit to celebrate birthdays! My dad's is April 29th and so we presented him with gifts and then just after we did the two girls as well since Kelly's in May and Erin's is in June. Fast forward to Saturday.

Bri and I get back into the hotel room at about 1:30 am, we had gone out after the rehearsal dinner with our friend Pete. Brian was a bit drunk, but seemed to be having a good time. I crashed and we woke up Saturday morning to begin the wedding day craziness. At 11:20 we went down to the buffet for breakfast, that way we wouldn't be so hungry later in the afternoon. When we were done with breakfast, the rest of my family showed up at the hotel, Bride's dress and bridesmaid dresses all set and ready to go. I stayed downstairs with my parents while Kelly and Erin went up to get ready. The make-up woman was already working on the other girls and Sandy was starting hair for the other bridesmaids as well.

After checking the parents into the hotel and getting the safety deposit box, I went up to the bridal suite to check things out and to help my parents drop off sandwiches and drinks. This is where the fun begins - the bellhop, apparently was incompetent, dropped and walked on Kelly's bridesmaid dress. Fortunately for him - the dress was perfectly fine. (Erin and Kel, I love them to death - but don't piss them off - it could mean your life!) I walked over and gave Sandy a hug, I had not seen her since shortly after graduating high school. I was introduced to the other bridesmaids, Yara and Martha were both getting hair and make-up and Georgia was sitting patiently waiting for the excitement to begin. While talking to Georgia, my cell phone rang with a 407 echange. All my friends knew where I was and this number came up without a name assigned to it. I hesitantly answered it. It was a good thing that I had, it was Kody's vet. It turns out he had become very ill and had massive diahrea and vomit. Both contained bile and this concerned the vet...and me. In the middle of my sister's bridal party who were al getting done up to look beautiful - I broke down and started crying. Kody is a very important aspect of my life and 2 years in April is when Kody became paralyzed so now to hear the news that is very ill and that the vet believes his liver to be part of the problem was not good. I finally got myself together after a few minutes and went back to my room to inform Brian about Kody. He was getting ready to go up to the girls to start the photography. Bri, like everyone else told me that Kody is a fighter and will be fine and try not to get more upset and get ready for the fun day that we are about to be a part of. I could understand why everyone wanted me not to worry - its just easier said than done. So I found myself trying to distract my thoughts to eat up the time before I was to start to get ready.

Ken came to my room shortly after Bri left to start getting ready, that's when I realized I needed to shower and shave and get my ass moving. After I showered, Francois came down all dressed and I thought I was late - then again, the groom was just getting into the shower and he was up first for leaving - so my thoughts resumed to normal. After Ken got dressed and left, Francois and I talked music and played around with some electronic music on my iPod. Jim joined us, then we decided it was time to meet up for the limo and get the show on the road. Erin and Ken had agreed to meet and do photos early so they could enjoy the reception and get some great city scenes. Part 2 to come soon. Buckingham Rocks the City for Free!

What a night! Bri, I know on the phone I told you it sucked for your own personal grief...but here's the truth. Stop reading now if you must!

Gary and I arrived downtown a little after 5:30 and parked in garage near the library (about 3 blocks from the concert site). Upon arriving we were able to get up to the blockade for people with VIP passes....we didn't have them. I wished I had a bigger lens, as you can see from the photo, Lindsey is a dot. The lead singer from Gin Blossoms is bigger because he came out into the audience and stood not too far from us.

Gin Blossoms went on at 7 (not 6 as advertised) and they sounded just as good as they did when Kelly and I saw them at Great Woods with Mum out in the parking lot. They of course ended with Hey Jealousy. It was a good start, since we missed the 4pm band.

Standing around waiting for Buckingham, it was announced that he (Buckingham) was about to come on and I decided to call the parent's...well they hung up on me or I lost the signal....either way, sorry!

Buckingham takes the stage and I (along with the rest of the fans) scream widely...we are insane, especially since this is a free show! This is the tracklisting:

Yea, he had all of us bark...he then joked about losing dignity after that track. I had never heard it live before and some of the new versions, Tusk, I Know I'm Not Wrong, Second Hand News, World Turning and Holiday Road need to be released live...actually he needs to have a CD/DVD of the tour released. He did alter the track listing by 4 songs being removed and 1 being added for the free show. So for free....we got one hell of set!

After not really seeing Brian since we broke up, I asked if he would be around for dinner on Monday the 5th (it's now Tuesday so...this is last night). He came home from the gym and we decided to go eat at Chili's. While there we wound up having a terrific conversation about his business's new answering service and how things were going for the two of us.

This is where the ball drops...Bri was very hesitant to mention that he has been dating someone for a few weeks, and to be completely honest..I had suspected it. I told him that it was excellent and glad for him. He said I knew the person and so I asked who? He wouldn't tell me, funny thing is, I already knew who it was. So because after dinner, Bri suspected I would write a blog about the night...I had to.

Midterms Suck

Anyone else have the mid semester blahs? I am really unmotivated to take my exam, so therefore I find myself on every distraction I can which means no to studying. Problem is...the exam is tonight! I have met with the professor and gone over some things...I've read and re-read the notes...just doesn't matter. Motivationally challenged here today. The interesting thing is at 4pm, we are no longer allowed to study for the test. He wants us to relax....oh boy! Anyone care that there are 3 types of metaphors?: orientational, ontological and structural. Then we also have metonymy, synecdoche (pronounced like sinectity) and irony. I think sarcasm should also fit the bill, but alas it does not.

well that's me, deep in thought. I have lots of schoolwork that I should be doing, instead I am on here creating a blog...how fun! Things are going well, Kody is crazy as always and Brian seems to be getting busy booking meetings and new clients. The other day he got 2 inquiries for same sex weddings which is awesome.

My single life is just that, but I am enjoying it...talking with new people and hopefully making some new friends...which is all I can ask for. Well back to work and then class tonight...need to read 4 chapters...blah!

Today is Super Bowl Sunday and unfortunately the Patriots are not in it. They completely lost sight in their final game and allowed the Colts to come back and win. I am currently trying to figure out research questions for my homework...not an easy task.

I went for my first motorcycle ride this morning which was amazing. This is a weekend for firsts...I dressed like a cowboy last night with the boots, belt buckle and the hat...and a country plaid shirt. It was so not me that I actually had a good time. It felt like Halloween, should have taken pictures.

Anyway, it is 2:30 and it's really cold out and just trying to complete this homework...which of course I am procrastinating on so that I may be able to go out and watch the game with a few of the guys I met last night.

Thesis and other homework

My thesis paper for my Wednesday night class is barely coming along. I was not accepted to present at the colloquium, which means I cannot receive an A on the paper. This also makes me less enthusiastic to complete the poster session. I am not really happy with my semester and educational advancements. Hopefully things will get better soon...

Children's Book

I am working on a children's book series that is based on Kody's adventures. I am taking real-life photos and attempting to illustrate them. If anyone knows a better way, please let me know. I am using the action: Comix for Photoshop.

I am attempting to let the world in, well into my blog page that is. I am currently setting this up, researching handicapped and digital media for my term paper, and downloading music. It's a productive Friday afternoon. So guess I will add and do more with this when I have more to tell.
